This month's Humans of CP features Nicole DeRusha, an Account Manager at CP. Nicole graduated from Westfield State University in 2014 with a degree in marketing, and has been a member of the CP team for about a year now! We spoke with Nicole to learn more about her role at CP and life outside of these blue and orange walls.
What do you do at Customer Portfolios?
I am an Account Manager which means I’m the primary liaison between CP and our clients. I manage client needs and expectations, along with the needs of my own team to make sure that requests, deliverables, presentations and deadlines are met.
Where’s the farthest place you’ve ever been?
Australia! When I was a junior in college I studied abroad in the Gold Coast of Australia. I was able to travel all over the country with friends and even went scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. That trip really sparked my desire to travel, see the rest of the world and learn about new cultures.
What is the most important thing to consider when working on a team?
I think communication is key when working alongside other people. Everyone has their own styles of working and unique personalities, so I’d much rather over communicate and make sure everyone is on the same page at all times.
What is one thing you’re looking forward to in the next year?
I’m getting married in June! There’s a lot of planning that has been going into the big day, but it’s been a fun process so far (probably jinxing myself). The time is beginning to fly by so I’m trying to enjoy everything before the craziness begins.
What is your favorite holiday tradition?
As cliché as it sounds, I really love just spending time with my family. I come from a large family, my dad is the youngest of nine, so the holidays are really the only time we can get together and all be in the same place at the same time. Also, my sister goes to college out of state so the holidays are really fun when she comes home and we get to spend more time together.
What has been your biggest challenge at Customer Portfolios so far?
The MBTA – literally just getting to CP is the biggest challenge. I win the award for the person that lives the farthest away from CP – about an hour outside of the city (on a good day). I take the commuter rail in, followed by a bus and quickly learned that relying on public transportation is never a guarantee.
Stay tuned for next month, when we speak with someone who helps clients execute their marketing programs!
