This month’s Humans of CP features Kim Mlodzinski, the Account Director for Journeys, Irving Oil, and Converse EU. Kim graduated from Bentley University, and has been at CP in various Account Management roles for 5 years. We spoke with her today to learn about her role at CP and her life outside our blue and orange walls.
What do you do at Customer Portfolios?
I am the Account Director for Journeys, Irving, and Converse EU. I am responsible for the relationship with my clients. My primary job is helping them make strategic decisions for their business, based on their goals and the insights we find through our analytics. I also work very closely with our Delivery team on a daily basis to keep the accounts running smoothly and ensure we’re meeting client expectations.
What fictional place would you like to visit?
All things Harry Potter! I’ve always wanted to be a student at Hogwarts, and then of course experience all the other cool places that come with that, like Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. I guess I’ll have to take a trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios soon, or at the very least a trip to my couch for a Harry Potter movie marathon.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
This is a hard one. There are so many fabulous women that I would love to experience what a day in their life would be like. But ultimately it comes down to two people: Beyoncé (obviously) and Connie Britton, or really more specifically Tami Taylor from Friday Night Lights. She’s amazing, and who wouldn’t want to be married to Coach?
When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
This one’s much easier: I would watch an episode of Friends every time. I’m slightly addicted to the show, and now that it’s on Netflix you can guarantee if I have a spare half hour (or really even 20 minutes!) I will put it on. You will catch me quoting or referencing it regularly.
What is your favorite activity in your current job? How often do you get to do it?
My favorite thing to do in my job is meet with clients in person. Usually we have meetings at least once a quarter to discuss their business goals and how CP can help drive their strategy. We’ll provide recommendations based on our analytical insights, and discuss action plans. The dynamics of these meetings are always great, and there is a lot to be said about the in-person aspect vs. email or conference calls.
What's something you want to do in the next year that you've never done before?
To me, this question is more “Where do you want to go in the next year that you haven’t been before?” My bucket list is primarily all places I want to travel. My life motto has become “Once a year go someplace you’ve never been before”, a quote by the Dalai Lama (I know, kind of corny). But prior to college I had never been off the East Coast, so after college I promised myself I’d always follow that rule, and I’ve been to a lot of new places since. Right now, I’m actually traveling through Costa Rica! And to answer the question, I think Ireland is next on my list to visit in the next year!
What has been your biggest challenge at Customer Portfolios so far?
In my role I work with so many people on so many different things, both internally and externally. I think one of the biggest challenges with that is understanding the way each individual works, and adjusting to that. Everyone has different personalities and ways of doing things. It makes it interesting and fun in a lot of ways, but it’s something you need to be able to adapt to. It’s all about being flexible and learning the best way to work with people to get things done.
Stay tuned for next month’s Humans of CP, where we will be speaking to a member of the CP team that pulls strategic insights from client data.
